Natural Eco-Fur: comfort and exuberance in Design

11/09/2023

In the past three years the Cipria eco-fur sofa, created by the Campana Brothers in 2009, has been one of the great attractions at the QuartoSala store in Príncipe Real, which is entirely dedicated to Brazilian Design.

Fernando and Humberto Campana dared to challenge the furniture industry by reimagining the very concept of comfort and introducing new and unconventional seating systems.

The sofa is part of Edras’ new collection, unveiled at the Salone del Mobile. Milano 2023. The Cipria sofa is an example of the use of ecological fur fabric in contemporary furniture. This sofa has become a worthy representative of a new way of thinking about the use of recycled materials, which are now also used in chairs, poufs, and even wall coverings.

The use of fur is not exclusive to the Campana Brothers. The famous Italian designer Nanda Vigo incorporated fur in some of her furniture and art pieces, the best example being the Due Più armchair, from 1971. Acerbis presented the Due Più at the Salone del Mobile. Milano 2023, the new version being coated in fur fabricated from recycled residues from the food industry, in perfect alignment with the new values of the circular economy.

The renowned designer Paola Navone also chose fur fabric as the coating of choice for some of the most desired chairs of the Italian brand Baxter.

An expert in leather manufacturing, Baxter raises the bar by coating the Nepal seats in a plush fabric.

And the Scandinavian brand Gubi used fur coating in its Stay collection of Lounge chairs and low armchairs.
