Knoll International is one of the most influential brands in the world. Their 80-year long history has given an immeasurable contribution to modern and contemporary Design.

When we think back to the designs that became classics, we think Knoll. The Mies Van der Rohe 'Barcelona' chair (1929), Eero Saarinen’s the 'Womb Chair' (1946), or the 'Pedestal tables' (1957), are but a few examples.

Born in Michigan, Florence Knoll (1917-2019) is one of the most significant women in twentieth-century design.

Following her graduation, Florence enrolled in the Department of Architecture at the prestigious Cranbrook Academy of Art, where she studied under at the Finnish architect, Eilel Saarinen. She went on to study under some of the greatest 20th century architects, including Walter Gropius (founder of the Bauhaus School) and Marcel Breuer in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and Mies van der Rohe at the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Florence married Hans Knoll in 1946 and, from then on Knoll defined the standard for the modern interiors of post-war America. The architects and designers that joined Knoll over the last couple of decades continued to honour the brand, and their designs follow the principles of modernism and are beautifully executed in the signature Knoll style.

Knoll International has a vast catalogue that brings together editions from the end of the 1920s to this day.
