Artemide was founded in Milan, in 1960, and developed from the beginning a very close association with Italian designers. Enzo Mari was one of the pioneers with his Polluce luminary, launched by Artemide in 1965.
Artemide launched many other outstanding lighting design such as the Tolomeo collection, designed by Giancarlo Fassina and Michele De Luci, in 1987. Tolomeo was awarded the Compasso d’Oro in 1989 and is represented in the permanent collections of the most important Design Museums all over the world.
