Five Years After the Pandemic: How Our Homes Have Changed

18/03/2025

The year 2020 forced us to look at our homes like never before. In addition to being a refuge, it quickly became a place of work, a space for leisure, and a meeting point.

With the pandemic, the need for adaptation brought new ways of living, making comfort and functionality central elements in interior design.

The home ceased to be just a place of passage. The fusion of professional and personal life demanded more flexible spaces, where ergonomics and organization took on a decisive role. The home office became a priority, and environments began to be designed to avoid tension between work and rest.

At the same time, we started to value outdoor spaces more – balconies, gardens, and terraces gained renewed importance, functioning as an extension of the home and offering an essential retreat for daily well-being.

The pandemic also sparked a greater awareness of sustainability. The choice of natural materials, preference for durable pieces, and investment in timeless design became synonymous with more conscious consumption and alignment with the preservation of the planet.

In the realm of technology, the home became more intuitive. Adjustable lighting systems, home automation solutions, and smart devices became silent allies in the comfort and personalization of spaces.

And, above all, the home became a space for sharing. Open kitchens, large living rooms, and gathering areas gained prominence, reflecting the desire to be closer to family and friends.

Five years later, these changes have solidified, and the way we approach interior design has evolved. QuartoSala, too, has understood these new concerns of its clients and adapted its services to meet their needs, fine-tuning the curation of pieces it presents in its five stores.

Today, our selection of brands and products reflects an increased focus on the issues that emerged from this period – from functionality and comfort to sustainability and durability.

Because, in the end, the home is the center of our world. And every detail makes a difference.
